End of Year Greetings -- 2011

from Dale Gieringer and Alice Agogino and Adrian and Arianne

Dear Friends -

A year of earth-shaking events from the Mideast to our own home, where we experienced a flock of mini-quakes centered right beneath us. Alice is looking forward to a year of sabbatical after another busy year of work at University of California at Berkeley. She spoke to the National Academies on "Greening the Internet" and was chosen by students as Professor of the Year in Mechanical Engineering. Dale celebrated his 65th birthday with a "Not Retiring Yet" party. He was honored to receive the Drug Policy Alliance's Robert Randall Award for citizen action, and is busily at work on another initiative in California. Arianne graduated from Smith this spring and has joined the growing ranks of college graduates who have returned home while searching for gainful empmloyment. Adrian continues to work at NASA. He recently returned from a saling trip to Panama and the Caribbean. Over Thanksgiving we were invited to tour the Kennedy Space Center and witness the thrilling launch of the Mars Rover Space Laboratory. Alice's grad student Kimberley Lau joined us and gave us a tour of never boring Disney World later.
