Danny Wilson's "Downs-and-Ups of a Trial Balloon for Science"

Danny Wilson was in the TechStream news from Lawrence Berkeley National Labs. He hopes to collect data on black carbon in remote locations as part of his MS thesis. Over Spring break he and his team from LBNL tested their ballon system at Memorial glade on campus. Excerpt from the article: "Round 4. Wilson was visibly tense: Engineering pride was on the line. The balloon rose, high above the green grass. Wilson called out, “One minute to go.” Spectators watched transfixed. Then, POP! and the package started to fall. The chute deployed. Everyone cheered, and the payload bounced lightly on the lawn. Wilson was whooping, dancing in air, as if Cal had just beaten Stanford."
